A new study found that men who are financially dependent on their wives or live-in girlfriends are five times more likely to cheat than those who made the same amount or more as their partner, this is in accordance to research presented at the annual meeting of the American Sociological Association.

Cornell University graduate student Christin Munsch , PHD states that lower earning men try to feed their inner machoness by having outside relationships. You would think they would want to be faithful for their free meal ticket, not so.

Christin Munsch Stated:

“Having multiple sexual partners may be an attempt to restore gender identity in response to these threats, In other words, for men, sex [outside their relationship] may be an attempt to compensate for feelings of inadequacy with respect to gender identity.”

But for some other , the research also brought up a similar results if the tables were turned:

“At the other end of the spectrum, those making a lot more are also more likely to cheat,”

Munsch says don’t stress and leave the guy if you make more money than him. Each relationship is different and unique and the study shows that only 7% of men cheated on their wife.

If men cheat because they earn less, and men cheat if they earn more why not just say men cheat because they do?
