Meet PetMan: The Human-Sized War Robot Who Will One Day Destroy Us
Good news everybody! Thanks to the geniuses over at engineering and robotics company Boston Dynamics, we’re one step closer to a Terminator-style robot apocalypse. Pretty soon, three quarters of us will be dead, and the rest will be living in underground bunkers perpetually fighting off invincible killing machines.
What am I talking about? I am talking about a new robot aptly named PetMan. Boston Dynamics claims it is the first human-shaped, human-size robot that can actually walk like a real man.
PetMan wasn’t designed to actually fight a war. Instead, he was designed to serve as a test-dummy for military chemical warfare suits. Before putting the suits on real soldiers, they’re going to have the robot wear them and do a bunch of soldier-like activities to make sure the suit doesn’t tear.
The thing can walk at a top speed of 4.4 MPH, as well as perform pushups, jumping jacks, and even squat thrusts. Perhaps more importantly, it walks on two legs, yet has remarkable balance. You can give it a solid shove and it won’t fall over. That’s always been the biggest problem in creating humanoid robots.
Check it out for yourself:
Sadly, you know it’s only a matter of time until they make PetMan into a real fighting robot. And obviously, once they do, his computer brain will figure out that we humans are the problem...then he will seek to eliminate us.
