Skype to be integrated into Facebook Chat
Most people that have Facebook also have used Skype; Facebook might stand alone when it comes to being on top of the social networks, however it lacks something that most people wish it had - video conferencing feature
For those that have family members around the world and would like to keep in contact with them visually, you are most likely to use Skype, Yahoo video chat, or the recently popular OoVoO.
Facebook’s goal is still to reach as many people as they can and that is why they're going to partner up with Skype and mesh their two services more closely together. Here is what each would gain from each other:
- Facebook user could soon send SMS messages and hold voice chats using the Skype interface and Video chats will be part of the new functionality in Skype with integrated Facebook.
- Skype would become a Facebook connect member and will try and reach the 500 million Facebook users. Skype will expand Facebook more globally and will add it 506 million registered users.
Though none of them has officially confirmed it, the features will arrive in Skype 5.0, which is set to be released in the next few weeks.
