How To Get A Felony Charge At McDonald's Over A $1 Soda
A Florida man, Mark Abaire, faces felony charges after asking for a courtesy cup at McDonald’s to add water, but instead, filled the cup with soda and walked out the building without paying.
Abaire went outside the restaurant to sit and eat. The manager came out asked him to pay for the soda but Abaire declined and started to curse the manager out refusing to leave the premises.
Collier County deputies were called; they came and arrested Abaire who is now facing felony charges.
The charges were initially supposed to be petty theft, but do to Abaire’s record of petty theft convictions, the charges were increased from a misdemeanor to a felony charge under Florida’s ‘three strikes’ rule.
In Florida, a third-degree felony is punishable by a maximum of 5 years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Was that worth it for a $1 soda?
Funny thing is a lot of people actually due this, I have witness my friends doing this many times. In Abaire’s case though, it was his attitude that got him in trouble. He should have paid when asked to or just left, why stay there and curse the manager out when you were wrong?
