Iran Plane Crash, At Least 70 Dead
IranAir aircraft Boeing 727 was on its way from Orumiyeh from Tehran when it crashed into the snowy mountainous region of northwestern Iran earlier this Sunday morning.
The death toll is estimated to be around 70 thought yet it has not been stated as a fact due to the rescue team and its efforts. Some 50 injured passengers have been saved and the quest to find more are still underway. The Boeing 727 had been carrying 105 passengers when it lost control and crashed. The critical winter weather is making it difficult for emergency workers’ rescue efforts.
Iran’s news agency is quoted saying,
"The number of dead has not yet been determined because the priority is to save those that have been injured first. Not all of the passengers have been killed. A number are still alive."
According to reports, it was very fortunate that the plane did not explode upon impact. They also believe the plane might have crashed when it was nearing its destination and close to the ground. It had taken off Tehran after being delayed an hour. Search for additional survivors are still in progress.
