Kelly Gneiting Sets World Record As Heaviest Man to Finish a Marathon
Kelly Gneiting has officially set the record as the heaviest person to ever finish a marathon. Ever.
Kelly, who is a 6-foot tall 400 pound sumo wrestler has gained (pun intended) his way into the Guinness world record as the heaviest person to ever finish a marathon.
Kelly completed the run with a total time of 9 hours, 49 minutes, and 52 seconds. The previous runner that had achieved such accomplishment had only weigh 275 pounds at which he completed the run with a personal best of 11hours and 52 minutes.
In an interview with LA Times, Kelly said that he never doubted his ability to finish the race. After the first 8 miles of jogging he walked the remaining 18. After the 10 mile, he claims he was delirious.
"I was really struggling in the last five miles, but I said to myself, 'If I have to crawl, I will.'"
