Man's Best Friend Is A Crocodile: What Ever Happened To Dogs?
There’s an old saying that says a man’s best friend is a dog. So when one says my best friend is a 980 pound crocodile i can’t help but go... WHAT?!?!?!?!
Well, it’s true - in Chito’s case that is. I guess he has to REALLY enforce the ‘don’t bite the hand that feeds you’ rule with his pet, because if not he’s in for some serious sh*t.
How did this bizarre thing happened? Chito rescued Pocho (isn’t that cute he named him!) the crocodile nearly 20 years ago in Costa Rica after finding him on the side of the road with a gunshot wound to the eye. He then took Pocho home with him and cared for him until he was healthy. Later, when Chito tried releasing Pocho back to the wild, Pocho wasn’t having ‘none of that’!
In a ‘GET OUTTA HERE’ type of way, Chito’s affections won over Pocho’s massive reptile - Pocho followed him back home and has been with him since.
They are so comfortable with each other now that they play and swim together for tourist. He did confess though, that it took him many years for him to feel safe fooling around with the dangerous creature. But now he is able to roll around the water with Pocho and have fun as though he was a pet dog. Oh my.
