Alyssa Bustamante, teenage psychopath

Yesterday at the sentencing hearing of teen murderer Alyssa Bustamante, those present in the Missouri courtroom got to hear exactly what the convicted killer was thinking the night she strangled, stabbed, and slit the throat of her 9-year-old neighbor.

"I just f------ killed someone. I strangled them and slit their throat and stabbed them now they're dead. I don't know how to feel atm. It was ahmazing. As soon as you get over the "ohmygawd I can't do this" feeling, it's pretty enjoyable. I'm kinda nervous and shaky though right now. Kay, I gotta go to church now...lol."

Those were the words a 15-year-old Bustamante wrote in her diary the night she murdered 9-year-old Elizabeth Olten. She later scratched out the entry with blue ink, but a forensic handwriting expert was able to decipher the words.

The killing took place in October of 2009, in a small town west of Jefferson City, Missouri. Little Elizabeth Olten left her house at 5PM to go play with Alyssa Bustamante’s younger sister. Her mom told her to be home by 6PM; tragically, she never returned.

Bustamante, now 18, is from a broken home. Her dad is in prison, while her mom is unfit to care for her due to alcohol and drug addictions. There were a number of signs that suggested the girl was troubled—such as her habit of cutting herself, her online comments about wanting to kill people, and the disturbing photos she would post on Facebook.

Still, there is more to this girl than a troubled home life. Lot’s of people have troubled home lives; they don’t sadistically plan and murder little children. That’s what psychopaths do.

The Missouri state trooper who arrested Bustamante testified that the 15-year-old him she’d always wondered what it would be like to kill somebody.

Obviously, now she knows.
